Playing a singing bowl is not a difficult task. Here’s how you can play one:

  1. Place the singing bowl upright lightly on your palm. Don’t clucth the singing bowl. If you prefer not to play it on hand, place a cushion ring on a flat surface. Avoid putting it directly on a flat hard surface.

Where do these singing bowls come from?

The singing bowls we sell are made in Kathmandu, Nepal. Both hand-made and machine-made variants are available. Our supplier is Himalayan Singing Bowls, based in Thamel, Kathmandu.

How do I choose a singing bowl?

Choosing a singing bowl is a matter of listening to the sound. There is no hard and fast rule to choose the “best” singing bowl, you do it by listening to the sound of each bowl, and choose the one you prefer. It is highly recommended to close your eyes and focus solely on your auditory senses. Don’t just hear the sound, feel it. Then you can easily choose the one that suits you best.

How does size make a difference?

Singing bowls are available in variety of sizes. The most important difference is the sound produced. Larger bowls usually produce a deep sound with low frequency. The smaller the bowls get, the more the frequency of sound increases.

What is the difference between machine-made and hand-made bowls?

Hand-made bowls are made with traditional tools. The are shaped and designed manually, which gives them an irregular rim. They are heavier and produce deeper and longer sounds than machine-made bowls. They are also considered more authentic. Machine-made bowls have a bit shallower sound. However, since they are machine made, they are much more smoother and have a more consistent shape. Thus, they look better as a decorative piece.
